This is a Christmas song in the Mafa language, stating that Jesus was born in Bethlehem. We were in bondage to sin. Jesus came to save us. Let us believe in Him, and we will experience true freedom and joy.
Voici un chant de Noël en langue mafa, qui raconte que Jésus est né à Bethléem. Nous étions esclaves du péché. Jésus est venu pour nous sauver. Croyons en lui, et nous connaîtrons la vraie liberté et la joie.
Mon épouse Priscille Mbalidam et moi exécutons ce chant au rythme de ganzavar en ce jour de Noël 2023. Même loin du terroir, notre cœur n’oublie pas les montagnes du pays Mafa. Ceci est un vieux chant de Noël dans le cantique en langue mafa (voir texte original ci-dessous). Il invite à aller saluer le Roi des rois, né à Bethléhem. Ce chant a été adapté au rythme de Houdok à l’église évangélique de Soulédé (Mayo-Tsanaga, Extrême-Nord Cameroun) dans les années 1980 par Korié la femme de Neguem Chéné. Elle fut sage-femme au dispensaire protestant de Soulédé.
My wife and I are performing this song to the rhythm of ganzavar this Christmas Day 2023. Even far from the land, our hearts do not forget the mountains of the Mafa country. This is an old Christmas carol in the Mafa language hymnbook (see original text below). It invites us to go and greet the King of kings, born in Bethlehem. This song was adapted to the rhythm of Houdok at the evangelical church of Soulédé (Mayo Tsanaga, Far North of Cameroon) in the 1980 s by Korié, the wife of Neguem Chéné. She was a midwife at the Protestant dispensary in Soulédé.
